When you are looking at a new rug for your horse there are many factors to take into consideration but here are the main ones:

• What size rug is my horse or pony?
• What weight rug does my horse or pony need?

Measuring for a new rug isn’t as hard as it may look. To get an accurate measurement you will need to measure from the middle of the chest to the top of the horse tail. You can do this using a tape measure or a piece of string and then measure that afterwards.

When you have purchased a rug, it is always wise to try it on over a clean sheet and to leave the tags on, this is so that if it isn’t the correct size it can be returned for an exchange to the correct size. If you are happy with how the rug fits you can then remove the labels and start to use your new rug.

For health and safety reasons, dirty rugs cannot be exchanged or refunded unless they are deemed faulty by the manufacturer.
